User Guide: BSWH Frisco - Idea Theater

Overview

The Idea Theater is a high-performance divisible collaboration space consisting of two rooms (A.6.318 & A.7.317). These spaces can function independently or combine into a single large theater. Each room features dual 98″ Samsung 4K displays and a Cisco Codec Pro integrated with Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR).

Room Modes

  • Individual Mode: Each room operates as a standalone space with its own local sources and displays.
  • Combined Mode: When the partition is open, the rooms function as one.
    • Master Control: The Cisco Navigator in Room A.5.103 (the larger room) becomes the primary controller for the entire space.
    • Panoramic Camera: In the “Control Panel” (swipe menu), you can toggle “Cameras Combined” to stitch the front Quad Cameras into a single wide-angle view for remote participants.

Content Sharing

Sharing content is handled through the native Microsoft Teams Room (MTR) interface on the Cisco Navigator.

1. Connect Your Device

  • Wired (Wall Plate): Connect your laptop to the HDMI or USB-C port at the front wall plate.
  • Wireless (ClickShare): Plug the ClickShare Button into your laptop. Wait for the light to turn static white, then press the button (it will turn red) to share.
  • Room PC: The dedicated in-room computer is connected via the AVoIP system and is ready for use.

2. Sharing to the Displays

  1. On the home screen, tap the Share button.
  2. A dialog will open showing available content sources.
  3. To select a source: Swipe inward from the right edge of the screen to open the Control Panel.
  4. In the Control Panel, tap Select share source and choose your input (e.g., PC, Laptop, or ClickShare).
  5. (Optional) Tap Preview on the sharing dialog to see the content on the room displays before others see it.
  6. Tap Share in call to begin presenting to remote participants.
  7. Tap Stop sharing when finished.

Control Panel & Custom Controls

The Control Panel can be accessed at any time (in or out of a call) by swiping from the right side of the Navigator screen.

Available Settings:

  • Camera: Change camera modes (e.g., SpeakerTrack) or manually adjust pan/tilt/zoom.
  • Microphone: Toggle Noise Removal or optimize for a single/multiple voices.
  • Speakers: Adjust the in-room speaker volume.
  • Custom Controls: Access the Camera Combine toggle for large theater events.

Audio & Microphones

  • Ceiling Mics: Shure MXA920 beamforming arrays automatically capture audio from the entire room. The LED rings turn Red when muted via the Cisco panel.
  • Wireless Mics: Each room has one Handheld and one Bodypack/Lapel microphone.
    • Pick up a mic from the charging dock (at the rear millwork) to use.
    • Return microphones to the dock after use to ensure they remain charged.

System Shutdown

  1. Tap More on the home screen, then select the Power icon or access device Settings to enter standby.
  2. The system will power off all 98″ displays and reset the room for the next user.
